Tickets and opening hours

The doors open at 3pm on Friday, and close at 6pm on Sunday. During the nights (3am to 9am) there will be no program or events. The Ropecon site will nevertheless be open during the whole weekend, days and nights.

Ticket prices are as follows:

–          28€ for the whole weekend

–          18€ for a single day (Friday and Saturday)

–          10€ for a Sunday ticket

A single day ticket is valid from the moment of purchase until 9am of the following morning. The ticket gives the holder access to the entire program as well as a possibility for staying the night at the dedicated places for lodging. Also included are showers, sauna, and the cloackroom – no fee is required.

Children under the age of 12 can attend the event free of charge, provided that they are accompanied by an adult who possesses a valid ticket. There are no age restriction at the event, but certain program items can be restricted due to possible explicitness. If you plan to attend to such program, be sure to bring a valid ID to prove your age.

Information in English

There is an English version of the guidebook available at the ticket sale desk and the Info Desk. Make sure to ask for one at either place, as they won’t be on display. The guidebook has a map, information about international program and a small dictionary.

If you feel overwhelmed or come alone, you can ask for an international friend at the Info Desk. They will help you with any questions you have. Also most of the volunteers speak English very well, and are happy to help you.

Lodging at Ropecon

The free lodging (from Friday to Sunday) is included in the convention ticket. You will sleep on the floor, though, so we suggest bringing a camping mattress and a blanket or a sleeping bag. Cold is not likely to be a problem – on the contrary, it’s about the hottest period of the summer in Finland. (Free lodging from Thursday to Friday, and from Sunday to Tuesday, is for Ropecon staff only.)

The Radisson Blu Hotel Espoo is located just down the street from Dipoli, mere 300 meters away.

There will be showers and sauna for the convention quests in Rantasauna, see Maps.

Shower and sauna times are found further down on this page.  Additionally there will be showers after certain programs such as dances, you can ask the exact timetables for those from the Ropecon Info desk during the convention.

If you have lots of stuff, you can leave them at the cloackroom next to the main entrance.

There’s a restaurant in Dipoli (called Cantina) and a convenience store, Alepa, is mere 200 metres away. Right outside the convention centre there will be several fast food stalls, and of course the hotel has a restaurant or three. The convenience store is by far the cheapest option.

Other tips:

You can leave your belongings at the cloakroom immediately inside the main entrance of Dipoli. It’s free, though tips are accepted with gratitude. If you are travelling with large or heavy items, it’s suggested to leave them at Smökki, please see Maps.

There’s a free WIFI called Aalto open at Dipoli for all the guests to use.

Alcohol is banned on the Ropecon premises outside of the Cantina restaurant. There is also a bar at the hotel. You may partake of your own beverages down at the beach. You may be denied entry to the event if you appear intoxicated.

Around Ropecon, our volunteer workers are wearing badges and many speak several languages. Ask them to translate for example program items, signs, menu’s or help in linguistic problems in conversations.

Any questions at the convention centre? The Info Desk is located in the big hall (“Käpyaula”) on the ground floor of Dipoli. Ask them anything, for the Info knows everything!
