Rope-what?

Ropecon, the largest non-commercial roleplaying festival in Europe, takes place from 25th to 27th of July in Otaniemi, Espoo. The festival attracts over 3500 visitors interested in roleplaying, card games, miniatures, board games, LARPs. Ropecon is not only about playing or gaming, but the event also has various presentations or workshops with a wide variety of interesting topics.

The Ropecon event has been held each annually from the year 1994. The very first Ropecon was held in hotel Paasitorni, Helsinki. After 1994 the number of attendees has increased drastically and a larger venue was needed, and thus the Ropecon was moved to Dipoli, Espoo, where Ropecon is organized for the 15th time thus far.

Roleplaying enthusiasts hungry for their yearly fix of Ropecon have grown in numbers year by year. The 1994 Ropecon saw a few hundred people, and the year 2002 we had more than 3000 visitors for the first time. The record number of visitors was in 2007 with a grand total of 3946 people.

Guests arrive from all across Finland and other countries, though the bulk of the visitors live near Helsinki.
